Below is our Nepal tour package from Mumbai: 5N/6D, with a private vehicle from the joining point. Many Mumbai families, especially from Maharashtra's large Buddhist community, plan Nepal around one place: Lumbini, where the Buddha was born. This plan gives Lumbini a proper half-day and adds an optional stop at Kushinagar, the place of the Buddha's Mahaparinirvana, about 50 km from Gorakhpur.

From Mumbai the train to Gorakhpur is about 30 hours, so most families fly straight to Kathmandu.
