Shimla trip itinerary, day by day

Day 1 – Chandigarh to Shimla, the Ridge at sunset

Pickup in Chandigarh or Kalka and the climb through Parwanoo and Solan. Evening on the Ridge and Mall Road, with the ropeway to Jakhu if time allows.

Day 2 – Kufri and Mashobra

Kufri's pony trails and Himalayan Nature Park in the morning, then the apple orchards and pine woods of Mashobra. Lakkar Bazaar for wooden souvenirs on the way back.

Day 3 – Viceregal Lodge and departure

A morning tour of the Viceregal Lodge on Observatory Hill, then the drive down to Chandigarh by late afternoon.

Making the Most of a Short Shimla Trip

A short Shimla plan works best when arrival and departure timings are fixed before sightseeing is finalised. Keep the first day close to central Shimla if the group reaches late, and use the full middle day for Kufri plus the main town attractions.

For the return day, avoid adding a distant excursion that can put the onward train, flight or road connection at risk. This keeps a compact hill break comfortable instead of turning it into continuous driving.
