Day 1 – Gorakhpur to Lumbini by road

Leave Gorakhpur mid-morning, cross at Sonauli and check in at Lumbini by afternoon. Walk the Sacred Garden, the Maya Devi temple and the Ashoka pillar — the entry ticket is the only spend of the day.

Day 2 – Lumbini to Pokhara via the Siddhartha Highway

A day on the hill road through Butwal, Tansen and Syangja. Evening on Pokhara's Lakeside, where the lakeshore walk costs nothing and cafés run from street momos to sit-down meals.

Day 3 – Pokhara on foot and by boat

Davis Falls and Gupteshwor cave in the morning, then a shared rowing boat to the Tal Barahi island temple. Walk or drive up to the World Peace Pagoda for the view back over Phewa Lake.
