The trek from Gaurikund is 16–18 km each way and takes six to eight hours up on foot. Ponies, palkis and pitthus are available at regulated rates, and helicopters fly from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi — booked only through the official IRCTC portal.

As an Ek Dham yatra, this Kedarnath trip gives the Kedarnath trek and darshan two full days, with a night at the temple town.

Kedarnath yatra itinerary, day by day

1

Day 1 – Haridwar to Guptkashi

An early start up the Ganga and Alaknanda valleys via Devprayag and Rudraprayag; evening at the Vishwanath temple in Guptkashi.

Day 2 – Trek to Kedarnath

Drive to Sonprayag, shuttle to Gaurikund and the climb to Kedarnath. Darshan and the evening aarti, with the night at the temple town.

Day 3 – Morning darshan and descent

A second darshan at dawn, Bhairavnath temple above the town for the view, then down to Gaurikund and on to Rudraprayag.

Day 4 – Rudraprayag to Haridwar

Via Devprayag's Sangam and Rishikesh's Ram Jhula to Haridwar by afternoon.
