Four nights in Manali give you the snow day and the town day of a short trip, plus a full day in the Kullu valley's older villages. Naggar, with its 15th-century castle and the Roerich art gallery, and the Jana waterfall above it, are the part most visitors miss.

This is our most popular length for families: it is long enough that no day feels rushed and short enough to fit a week's leave with the overnight Volvo from Delhi. The Naggar day also works as a fallback if Solang is closed by snow.

Why 4 Nights / 5 Days Works Well

This duration gives Manali local sightseeing, the Solang/accessible mountain side and the Kullu–Manikaran route separate space. It is better suited to families and first-time visitors than a very compressed weekend plan.

The extra night also gives some flexibility if weather changes the higher-altitude excursion. Kasol or Sissu can be considered only when the transfer timings remain comfortable.

Day 1 – Arrival and a slow first afternoon

Morning arrival from the Volvo stand, hotel check-in and a gentle walk to Van Vihar and the Tibetan monastery near the Mall.

Day 2 – Snow day: Solang and Sissu

Solang's slopes and ropeway, then the Atal Tunnel to Sissu in Lahaul, road permitting. Back in Manali by late afternoon before the hill roads freeze.

Day 3 – Manali's temples and villages

Hadimba Devi temple, Manu temple in Old Manali and the hot springs at Vashisht, with time for the cafés along the Manalsu stream.

Day 4 – Naggar Castle and Jana falls

A drive down the left bank of the Beas to Naggar's stone-and-timber castle and the Roerich gallery, then up to Jana falls for a Himachali thali of siddu and rajmah.

Day 5 – Departure

Morning free, then the cab or Volvo back to Delhi or Chandigarh.
